cheesy valentines
i've always found valentine's day a bit uncomfortable; i never really got the whole thing of dedicating a particular day of the year to your partner when the other 364 days are just as suitable as that one. valentine's day is cheesy, over the top, ridiculous, and all in all, just a bit of a joke, really (at least in my eyes, anyway,) so in celebration of its cheesy ridiculousness, i decided to go ahead and have a little bit of fun with it!
i sat and brainstormed some cheesy one liners, puns and imagery i could include on cards (with a little help from my roommate, may i add (thanks again!)) and cracked on with making some cards that i felt mixed just the right amounts of cringe and cute. i mean, if you're going to declare your love for someone in a sickening, romantic fashion, the picture on the card might as well be sickeningly cute too!
as much as i detest valentine's day, i really enjoyed making these designs! they were fun execute and gave me a bit of a laugh while doing so. i guess what i've learnt from this and my efforts around christmas to produce personalised cards is that it turns out that i quite enjoy designing cards! there's mothers' day around the corner and a few more birthdays on the calendar this year, so i'll be sure to be designing more cards for those occasions! after all, if a card doesn't have something special about it, it's more than likely thrown out within a week of receiving it, so i find it nice to make something a little bit special for the people closest to me.
please excuse the instagram snaps, i seem to have misplaced my camera, but here are a few snaps i took of my designs printed out onto card. they're a6 sized (half of a4 folded), and considering the fact that i don't have the most brilliant printer known to man, overall, i was pretty impressed with how they turned out!
it's probably a long shot, but if anyone would be interested in buying a design i'd be more than happy to start printing out and sending these! i have no idea what would be fair to price the cards at, so i'd love to hear some comments from you guys with some ideas, or even just some opinions on whether or not it's worth me putting these cards up for sale in the first place! as ever, general comments are always welcome, too. it's lovely to hear from people and know that my work's being seen!
until then, happy (very early) valentine's day to you all!
